Ethnicity Courses

Using the paradigms of Monica McGoldrick and others, Thomas Carr & Associates offers courses through reading, workshop, tour and discussion that suggest ways to prepare the participants to identify and define salient issues and insight into various cultures and people. We will also look at the specific culture as it exists in the United States  and in the context of time and  compare and contrast findings with our own observations and apply to their own practice not only with their culture, but a variety of cultures.

We will also examine subcultures in a given and see how they are seen within the larger population, and apply that to the way we view culture in treatment.

We also examine other issues , such as domestic violence, child abuse in the culture as well as Clergy Sexual Abuse. Finally we will look at a specific mental health issue (depression) and see how it is viewed in the culture. We will begin to think about how we present treatment issues to different cultures.
